Hello. I'm hoping to confirm whether I'm going to get my stimulus payment deposited on my Direct Express card just like my SSI benefits, or if it's going to be sent by mail in either a check or debit card.

I've read conflicting information from different sites saying Direct Express cardholders will automatically get their payment deposited on their card, and also other sources saying it won't be and will arrive as a check by mail (for people with a bank account) or by a pre-loaded debit card, so I'm just really hoping to clear this up since I'm really counting on this money to help me move to a new apartment...

I hope this is the right place to ask, don't know where else to and I've already emailed the IRS website with no response still.

This might be a help

How will I receive my payment? You should receive payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you usually receive your SSI benefits. Yep, I did say Direct Express (I've been asked about those a lot).

I'm really hoping that's the case because I don't have a bank account for a paper check and have a shared mailbox with a bunch of other units where I live...

Just tried it and got the "status not available" message, hopefully not because of the not eligible reason listed :/

I went nuts trying to work with that site. I finally used my ss number and the site worked. But it took 3 days.

As for where your check will go - I wish I could help you out more. My husband and I had filed our taxes early. He receives social security and veterans benefits, both direct deposit. Our check, however, was mailed to us. Go figure. We received it on April 25th.

That's great! Also, ours stated that the check would be mailed out on 4/24. But we actually received it (in the mail) on 4/23. Amazing; we thought surely it would be late...hopefully yours will show up within days.

(Just thought I'd post this for anybody who might've been in the same situation)

Checked last night and it finally showed a pending deposit on my card, then called the automated system to check when exactly and it said it will be available on the 13th at 1 AM.

So I finally got my stimulus check.
1. it was for less than I thought it would be.
2. I was on a DEBIT card making it so I had to go to the teller at the bank to deposit it (doesn't that defeat the point of corona virus?)
3. The teller didn't know how much was on it so they wanted me to go outside, withdraw in cash the funds and come back in ... NOPE.

Could they have made things more complex?
