Here's one I don't think there might be a simple answer to.
Progressing along this road of illness and the uncertainty of it all I now find myself with the early stages of becoming impudent or it feels like it not being able to perform properly in the bedroom. God it is hurting the ego . For what is a man when he can't be a man?

Smile Re: prostate cancer

Well, this is my first time in this forum. I don't post, or reply to posts, here typically. I just happened on your post. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at around age 50, I guess it was. I'm now 65. Because I was so relatively young at the time, it was recommended that I undergo a radical prostatectomy, which I did. I did not need any radiation or chemo. I ended up impotent as a result, although I'm not at all sure that this was entirely due to the surgery. I'm more inclined to think it was the surgery in combination with my mental health struggles, antidepressants, & some other stuff. I also still experience some mild incontinence. But the cancer was gone & that's the main thing. Best wishes...

Skeezyks thanks for sharing your story .
I have found the waiting to know the hardest to live with and at this stage they think they may have of got to me in time so no invasive treatment yet. So heres hoping medication will do the trick . Going through all this puts so much mental pressure on us that it makes up a big part of the disease whether we beat it or not. The scars nobody can see .
I now know more than I ever wanted to about the relationship between the brain and the physical side of being a man .
Thanks for sharing because any information we gain should be shared so others may benefit of our experience.

Hello daggy: I was diagnosed with prostate cancer... oh... maybe 15 years ago... I was quite young considering. I was fortunate though in that it was caught at an early stage. I underwent a radical prostatectomy but did not have to have radiation or chemo therapy. So I guess one could say I was lucky. Allot of what you're going to experience probably depends on how advanced your cancer is & on what treatments your physician recommends. There are treatment options available today that were not available to me, or at least were not recommended. Anyway, I wish you all the best with your battle ahead.

Thanks for sharing it is quite daunting at first . Here is hoping the medics have advanced enough now that the treatment can catch it all early.
