Some people in this group know that I have pure-O subtype (themes are mostly sexual/sexuality/contamination in nature) theme is different every time follow by months of recovery.
I am curious as to when people first had OCD really affect them enough to notice it. Age of Onset I know this varies between childhood onset to adult onset. -Cheers |

I haven’t been diagnosed with OCD, if that’s how it works. I dunno anything about it besides what I experience.
It started when I was 13, repetition. It got better once I got into high school. It eventually became pretty unnoticeable, just some counting when I feel any rhythm. I guess I replaced most of the habits with chanting and begging in my head for everything to stop. |

My OCD came on with a bang when I was 13 and untreated it's very severe. I am now 60. For 2 years it was severe obsessions and then at 15 also came the severe washing/cleaning rituals. For some reason the washing/cleaning rituals went away after about 2 years but the obsessions remained. I take a large dose of lexapro and other psych meds to cope. I also have regular anxiety at times and depression most of the time. The psych meds work pretty well for the OCD and anxiety but not the depression.
