Hello, this is my first post. I've been diagnosed on the 23th of June, this year. I am currently writing some my worries about social life, in order to see if I'm alone in this.
Well, to start with, I am 23 years old, and I my parents took me to the psychiatrist this year because I had very disorganized behaviour (I couldn't stand still, I was impulsive and aggressive). Since then I've been taking Sertraline 100 mg per day along with Risperidone 1 mg and Clomipramine 75 mg per day. Currently I'm feeling much better, I'm less impulsive and less aggressive, but I am still having trouble with socializing. It's hard for me to follow other people's conversations -people who aren't my family- and understand what they are saying. Besides this, intrusive thoughts of a I would like to know if the other people with OCD in this forums have the same difficulty socializing, and if it gets easier to socialize over time. |

Hello Marcelopm: Since this is your first post, here on PC, welcome to Psych Central. Since socialization is one of your primary concerns now the Social Anxiety sub-forum, here on PC, may also be of interest to you. Here's a link just in case you haven't already found it:
https://psychcentralforums.com/socia...ective-mutism/ I'm sorry I am not able to comment with regard to your particular concern. Hopefully there will be other PC members who will have had some experiences they can share. In the meantime, though, here are links to 5 articles, from Psych Central's archives, that may be of interest including a link to a podcast on the subject of social anxiety: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | Psych Central OCD and Social Scrupulosity OCD, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Treatment 6 Ways to Overcome Social Anxiety https://psychcentral.com/blog/podcas...-controls-you/ I hope you find PC to be of benefit. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Hey there, this is an extremely debilitating condition we are living with. Not many people understand it or want to give it the time of day. My social life has shrunk to minimal level this past year due to having intrusive thoughts and false memories (as part of OCD) meaning I have to film myself wherever I go or else my mind will 'trick' me into generating a false memory. Going back to a couple of years ago when I was 'functioning' as I call it I still didn't have much of a social life due to being very quiet and introverted of which has affected me my whole life. I am going into 2020 with the hope that I will get better and start to enjoy life again.
