Ok, maybe I'm nuts for thinking this, but how cool would it be for PC members who live in close proximity to each other to start support groups where we could come together and talk about life issues? Many of us don't have family or friends or whatever and this would give people the opportunity to meet other members and make friends IRL that truely understand what it's like to walk a mile in our shoes. So is this a good idea or a stupid one? How many would participate?

Ry

I think it's a wonderful idea and you can count on me to participate! PC support group IRL

Ry? This isn't RL?? You have impacted my life as much, if not more, had I met you face to face! Some of us like to call "RL" - 3D. PC support group IRL

Oh fine you big goofy arse!!! PC support group IRL You know what I mean. I just thought it would be something cool to do like once a month or so. For those of us (like me) who have difficulties in social situations it could be very helpful. Hell, it could be helpful all around. Anyway, it was just a thought. BTW Tomi, you've more than impacted my life as well. I'd say you used a 20 HP jack hammer.

See guys, that's what I'm talking about. Jenn, there's someone else here that's in Utica which is the next town over. And you're actually about 1/2 hour from me Jenn. I live a decent bit north of Detroit.

I'm all about it, cuz you can NEVER have too many friends.

I'm all for an IRL meeting. Ry, that is a WONDERFUL idea.

Dolfin, you live near a Ren Faire? Do you ever go? I go to ours in Bristol every year. What fun to dress up in costume and yell "Arrrrr me hearties" and no one thinks you're nuts. PC support group IRL

dressing up and yelling 'aarrrrrrrrr hearties" is about one step over from Texas line-dancing for short people!

I would so be up for that, but I think I'm correct when I say - I'm the ONLY person here from Scotland. So it may be abit difficult lol.

Oh my gosh Ryan, I think that is a excellent idea. In fact I was going to bring this up the other day but then lost my nerve because I thought there would be a lot of "trust" and comfort-level issues because we all have emtional problems and such. I'm shy and awkward the first time around new people but I for one would love to meet people here in person.

I have heard stories on TV where people who were afflicted with various disorders have gotten togther like once a year for a reunion. Perhaps we could all do this. Not sure how the travel and other expenses would work out but I'm thinking maybe those who had more might be able to help those who had less or maybe some carpooling or something (I'm not sure at the moment). Great idea though for sure!!.

Whoops forgot to mention I live in Ocala FL and the only transportation is my roommate/friend's car which we jointly own. I'd have to take a bus I guess which would be "new and scary" to me...ahhh

GG, I'm shy and awkward around new people too, except for people that I already have some rapport with, like internet friends.

We're all "friends" here already, so it's less nerve rattling to meet face to face.

I actually think it would do some of us a world of good, because even though we're accepted in our "virtual" personas a lot of us (me included) need the validation in the real world that we're worthwhile.

Does that make any sense?
