I find my memory is much worse when my meds aren't working because of anxiety. It also happens when I don't get enough sleep. When I'm stable on meds, my mind works fine.

I know my mental health as deteriorated over the last 8 or 9 years ever since an severe episode of depression. In another thread on here Ive spoken about pain/irritation in my head and feet. I've had this to some degree earlier on in my life as a teenager with feelings of contamination leading to irritation in the area affected.
If only it was so dam easy to get doctors to refer you for a CT scan or something. It would answer SO many questions. |

question:
if a dr said you had a condition such as asthma, heart disease, cancer, etc., and you needed meds to feel better and improve the quality of your life, would you take them? even if he told you there were side effects, because not taking them could lead to worsening of those conditions & possible death. so how are mental health related drugs any different? i for one have had serious brain damage issues from mental health drugs. had to relearn most all of basic life skills. the issue was high does and large numbers of drugs. I had no family to confront the dr to say enough. I lost memory of the period. it was over 10 yrs ago and while many skills have returned some have not. my brain rewired itself. it was awful, basically a traumatic brain injury. could this have happened from other classes of drugs? yes. that being said, if you need drugs to stabilize a condition you have 2 choices: 1. take them 2. don't take them it is a condition only YOU can make & it has to be based on what YOU decide is best for YOU. life has side effects. |
