When I first came here I related to the Borderline Personality Disorder forum as that was what I was told was my diagnosis from my original T I had for 2 years along with c-PTSD but at the time that category was not listed. It came along later. I also would post in the eating disorder forum as I was bulimic. Then my T now had suggested and felt I had DID but brushed that under the rug and just normalizes everything. Keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with me as everyone has parts.
Anyway after years of therapy I feel my symptoms are no longer clear enough to belong to any certain diagnosis. I do not have PTSD nightmares or get triggered into emotional flashbacks as fast and hard as I did. I only throw up a once or twice a month. I feel I do not display any Borderline symptoms to be considered borderline. I was always confused about the DID anyway so I do not belong there. I kind of hang out in the psychotherapy forum as I am in therapy. I feeling a little lost. __________________ When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Wanting those unmet childhood needs in adulthood. Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors. |

Feel free to spend time on any forum, as you grow and change...so will the forums you spend time in. I enjoy posting in the 'Coffeehouse,' and Games forums, we ask each other questions about who we are, what we get out of life, kind of interviewing each other, asking what we are grateful for, etc
Glad you show signs of growth __________________ |

Don't ever feel you NEED to fit anywhere. Here you are accepted wherever you feel you want to be at the time.
I ride the roller coaster depending on what gets triggered that day. |

I feel similarly. Although I've been rattling around the mental health system where I live for 20 odd years or so now I don't have anything in the way of an actual diagnosis that I'm aware of. I suppose there must be something written down somewhere for insurance purposes… perhaps depression & anxiety. But that wouldn't be based on anything, assuming it exists. It would simply be something to fill in the required spaces on some form or other. Anyway, as a result of that, I don't really feel as though I have a "home" here on PC either. So I just reply to threads that are of interest, in whatever forum they appear.

All the cool people are in the Bipolar Check-In Thread. You have to pass a brief qualification exam to enter, but it's cake.

I don't really qualify for any "box" either. I think it's OK. Just read and post wherever you want :-) I like reading social chat, as well. Or other mental health problems. I really don't think you need to choose one forum and only post there. I'd say many people here post in multiple forums. You don't need to fit 100% in order to post somewhere.

The thing is... for me... I reply to posts wherever I find posts that are of interest or that I can relate to (like this one!) But I rarely post my own threads. And when I do they're generally not of a personal nature. Perhaps, if I had a "home", I'd post my own threads there. (Perhaps I wouldn't either. I don't really know.) But, as it is, I don't feel I belong anywhere. So I don't. Come to think of it though, that's pretty-much how I feel in real life too... like I don't belong anywhere. I suppose that's why I'm mostly a recluse.

I am in the same boat. There's no particular thread here where I fit in and I feel I give terrible or unappreciated advice. I usually lurk in the General Social Chat because there's no pressure to have the "right" answer or be in the "right" mood (although a good attitude is appreciated), and in General Social Chat, all is welcome no matter what is going on in your life...or not. You're welcome to check it out.

When i first started on PC, for a looooong time, i felt like i was back on the catholic school playground for the first and second graders - it was the only one with sand and swings and slides. After going home for lunch, i would return and stand by the side of the swings, wishing someone would get off and let me on. I remember one of the school mothers encouraging me to ask someone if i could take a turn. I think i did that one time, but never again. The internet is exactly like that playground. No one is in charge. You just step in. Its horrible but its fun.
