My neighbor, a lady age 62 lives with her dog a beagle-noisy things! The dog means a lot to her though she does have some social life. Because of the dog's barking so often at anything that moves I have had to have the police come to her house many times. This has been going on for years and with the previous dog. She got a bark surpres collar which makes the dog sound like a case of bronchitis. The last time, I told the police I wanted to press charges. She was gone and it had been barking for an hour nonstop. So the cop came and we went over and talked to her. Her response was almost to deny that she was guilty of anything. Now over the last year or more she has developed a voice problem where she can hardly speak but only in a squeaky little voice. She needs some kind of surgery. This lady lacks much of any inner strength, afraid of anything. She has been terrified of me because on a few occasions I have gone to her door-which she won't answer, and at which point I start hammering on the door with a lot of force. My point is I began to wonder, being very interested is such things, if her voice problem is mirroring the problem with her barking dog and the stress she feels, of course on an unconscious level. Could be I suppose.

Not good to assume anything. If you don't know....you don't know.

There is no way to know, but that is unlikely.

It may just be the way you described it in your post, but I honestly feel bad for the dog and the older lady! Pressing charges? Hammering on her door? I'm probably biased because I grew up with a yappy dog and no matter what we tried, the stubborn thing didn't stop.

I doubt her throat issues are mirroring her dog's. Sounds like there may be something going on medically that you don't know about. May I suggest earplugs, or putting in headphones and listening to music?

Collars that have citronella in them are great for stopping dogs from barking.
