My secret life is driving me mad. I need to find a wise old psychiatrist or psychologist... a Sigmund Freud, if you will, someone who has peered into the darkest recesses of the human mind & who would nod wisely at everything I might disclose... someone who would know just what to say. Sometimes I wonder how much longer I can hold on...

I was lucky and found the next best thing to Sigmund., the only problem is that he charges $300 /50 minutes and doesn't take insurance. I hope you find your Sigmund. __________________ Once you are real, you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always.... |

Of all the people on the forums, you are probably the one who contributes the most to our well being. So obviously, you are a good person. And others on the forums probably share your issues. Do you have a pdoc and a therapist?

Will you look for someone to talk to? You do deserve a wise one who will listen.

Skeezyx, not sure exactly what the darkest recesses may be. But if you want really dark recesses you might try reading the work of John Douglas, FBI profiler. It’s hard to believe you could be talking about something like that, but if nothing else you may find you’re not quite as evil as you think.

Oh Skeezyks, you are the PC mascot and the grand example we should all strive for when supporting each other. Your presence brings so much comfort to myself and so many others. You warm my heart and put a smile on my face when I see you making rounds. PC wouldn't be the same without you, and you make PC such a bright and cheery place.

Interesting. I am in agreement with such a hope and wish. If I could invite three famous figures to dinner he would definitely be on my list.
It seems Switzerland is still the land of milk and honey persay when it comes to being on the forefront of Mental healthcare. If only I were a resident such care would be free. I have a close friend who is in fact a citizen and has done just that - travel to the land of Freud to seek out the latest treatments. This friend is healthier than they ever have been. If only the rest of the psychological world would stand up and take notice. |

I'm so sorry you're hurting so much, Skeezyks I agree with what all the others have already wisely said better than i ever could. You're a wonderful person. Please don't give up. I know it's hard to find a good therapist or psychologist. But there are good ones out there. Keep looking. Are you seeing anyone currently? I hope you'll be able to find someone that will be able to help you. You're always so kind to everyone here on PC, you deserve to get better as well. Try to take some time for yourself if you can. It seems like that may help you a lot. Do you have a support system IRL? Any friends or family that you can reach out to? Please don't give up. I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. You don't deserve to suffer like this. I hope things will get better soon for you. You're a wonderful person. Stay strong, Skeezyks. Stay safe and take care of yourself. You're awesome! You're strong! You're a warrior! We all care about you here. We all love you here. Remember that we're here for you if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this

I was blessed to find my angel psycholigist who has helped me learn skills, process areas if my life never processed before & integrate my past with my present. Who would have ever figured I would find this kind of help in a small town in Ky with a psychologist from Italy (after leaving So Calif with all their UCLA gurus who were useless)

These people are rare diamonds! If you don't reside next to a vein of rock producing diamonds... and you don't know anyone who works in the profession who would personally know such a diamond...
Sometimes I've had to answer my own questions because the diamond is inside me. I did once in my life find someone helpful through being the cleaning lady for a psychiatrist, but I was 20 and that doesn't seem like an appropriate/ statistically likely solution at your/ my age. Could you possibly pm someone who you like/ trust here on PC? Lots of us have depth of experience in areas of our own difficulty where we are un-shockable. __________________ *"Fierce <-> Reality"* oh god I am struggling today, help me to remember how to stay connected and human! remember: the nut shell against human predators and my own fear! |

Thanks so much for all of your kind replies to my post. (The title of my post, as you may be aware, was a take-off on the title of the 1985 film "Desperately Seeking Susan".) As usual, whenever I post anything of a personal nature, I clam up & revert back to just doing what I'm comfortable doing which in this case involves mostly greeting new members.
This thread was primarily wishful thinking on my part. I'm not actually seeking Sigmund Freud... or anyone else either for that matter. I'm old enough now that it just no longer makes any difference. But I would have to admit that, from time-to-time, I do fantasize about having the opportunity to tell all. It would be a l-o-n-g, drawn-out, mad affair. At this point I will take it all with me to the crematorium. But I do so appreciate all of your kind replies. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go."
