Recently I have been really struggling to cope with my mental heath.
I am currently waiting to get a new therapist and have got at least another month to wait.
I find it very hard to call helplines as I have trouble speaking on the phone. I have tried emailing/chatting but these conversations are never really helpful and always seem to fizzle out.
I have tried making friends online but these friendships never seem to end well. I can't talk to friends or family or anyone I know in person about my issues.

Does anyone have any tips or know of any alternatives to get support during hard times?

Thanks

Are there mental health support groups in your community?

I'm so sorry you're hurting so much, StripedTapir Please don't give up hope! Try to hang on as much as you can! I'm really happy that you're going to see another therapist soon! Just try to hang on for at least a month. It WILL pass! I promise you that! I completely agree with what lizabeth06 has already wisely suggested better than I ever could! I'd suggest to try to see if there are any mental health support groups near you! Perhaps it will be helpful to meet some people that are similar to you and are struggling with problems similar to yours in person! Perhaps talking to them IRL will be more helpful to you! I'd also suggest to keep trying to speak on the phone as well if you can and want! Perhaps you'll feel a bit less anxious if you keep trying it out! That's just my opinion though! The final decision is up to you! Of course all of us here on PC will all be here to support you as well! We all care about you here! We all love you here! Please don't give up hope! Try to hang on as much as you can! Feel free to vent and write here as much as you need and want! You know we won't judge you! I promise you that! Remember that we're here for you if you need it! Feel free to PM me anytime! Let me know if I can do something to help you! Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes! I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this, StripedTapir! You can do this! You've got this! Remember that you're stronger than you think! Keep fighting! We all believe in you! Believe in yourself! I hope you'll be able to believe in yourself as much as we all believe in you and that you'll be able to see yourself as the strong, wonderful person that you truly are! You deserve to get better and to feel good! You deserve to live an happy, fulfilling life just like everyone else does! Keep fighting! You're awesome! YOU ROCK!

I'm sorry that you don't have a network of friends or family to support you in your time of need. Sometimes, when I'm feeling stressed, I like to do something that I enjoy to get my mind off my problems. Play a game, draw or paint something, listen to music, whatever.

On the subject of hobbies and interests, I'm sure there's a class or group at your local community center that you can take that might interest you, and you might make some friends in the process. Just an idea.

I agree in that you might try to find a support group.

A support group is not therapy. You don't have to even participate, they are usually peer moderated, and I have found them comforting to know there are people quite similar to me. They also are a very good way to get yourself out. I have a hunch that you are self-isolating. If this is correct, getting yourself out and among people will do you well.

I had been self-isolating for some time and it wasn't until I found my own support group that I was able to take down the barriers I had put up. It was very healthy for me to go as, for a time, it was the only occasion I spent around other people. Slowly but surely it got easier and easier until eventually I was not just participating but eventually became a group moderator. So too did my relationships with the other attendees change. I began to look forward to seeing these people and found that there became a social component to attending.

So, if you are alone, isolated, and trying to cope I recommend finding a group to attend. I would start with looking for a Mood Disorders Group.

Good luck. Please take care. Be proactive.

I agree with the support group idea- ever see fight club? The guy in that (before it got violent and all that ) loved support groups. I am not saying you have to pretend to have something you don't but there are support groups for many things.
