Hello.
Sometimes I have a pressure to talk and get things out. Like, I will literally spill my thoughts completely out of context/without explaining when I get the chance to. What really bothers me is that I noticed there are times I am actually saying some very random things, but I am not really "there" when I do and I have no control over what I am saying. Literally, I only become aware of what I said by hearing the words. It's just little sentences, just one at a time, that are really "out of place". That happens mostly when I am alone (thank God) and only just happened a few times when I was around others. It's on and off; comes and goes. I also type things I didn't mean to type sometimes, while I am thinking how to start writting something, I will type a few completely irrelevant words. I will also say a certain phrase without even thinking it or really choosing to, it just comes out, but that is a general phrase and always fits in so it's okay. It scares me, like how the hell do I say something that I didn't even think of? |

children here in america are taught things like think before you speak. and how to talk in an orderly way, one step at a time. then when they reach high school they have to learn how to apply not thinking about how to say things for things like "brain storming" writing rough drafts, giving impromtu speeches, just go with the flow of what comes to mind first. in other words here in america its normal to do this and we re taught to do this. it takes some work sometimes to figure out how much to tell people about what and when. some places, schools and types of therapy practice both types of communication and find ways to keep things simple and uncomplicated. my suggestion if this continues to bother you talk with your treatment providers. |

Hello ghostbud: I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to Psych Central. I'm sorry I don't think I would have any suggestions as to the causes of the experiences you describe. Perhaps there will be other members, here on PC, who will have some thoughts they can offer.
I do, myself, have a tendency to say things out loud that I don't intend to say. Typically it's just 2 or 3 words. Sometimes it's related to something that's on my mind. Other times it's just words such as: "Oh well..." or "I don't know..." On occasion I have to quick come up with something else to follow up with that makes what I said initially sound like it makes sense. I've presumed that, in my case, this is related to anxiety. But I don't really know. Anyway... I hope you find PC to be of benefit. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Hello Ghostbud. Sorry you feel worried. I'm sure I have done this myself on occasion...verbally and/or in writing. Do you notice any increase/decrease with hunger, fatigue, physical pain, stress, or mood?
I realize it bothers you but from the outside it does not sound terribly concerning. Perhaps you are being hard on yourself? If it really continues to trouble you, perhaps you could keep a log of it? Note where you are, time of day, what you were doing, alone or with others, how you were feeling etc each time it happens. Then look at frequency (is it really happening often) or for any patterns in when/where it happens. I always noticed that I'd make more mistakes in my speaking or typing on Friday afternoons at work because fatigue had caught up with me. Peace and hope to you |

Hi Ghostbud. I go thru this, too. Sometimes it scares me because I have no idea where I was, mentally. I know I've been speaking, but no clue what I've said. It's like being in a trance. Like you, it usually happens when I am alone.
I have no idea what causes it. Not sure if it's from my schizoaffective disorder, or what. |
