Hi Fuzzybear. Yes. I have been given a diagnosis too quickly imo and was misdiagnosed before which was a pain in the butt.

There is no real treatment since meds don't work for me. CBT was a little help but far from a cure.
@Thirty shades I read someplace that the UK doesn't have DBT. Is this true? Its been a Godsend for me.

@WovenGalaxy

Here in the UK we have very poor services. CBT is offered but our NHS doesn't offer much more than that. Not in my area anyway.

Not sure about private healthcare but it would be expensive.

What is DBT?

I am pleased you have found it beneficial

DBT is dialectical behavioral therapy. It has 4 components: mindfulness, improving interpersonal communication, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation.

I personally think its amazing and that everyone could benefit from it.

There's much information about it online, including YouTube.

I haven't personally experienced misdiagnosis but a relative did - they diagnosed her very quickly (crisis team). The diagnosis has had a lifetime effect upon her and affected the career she wanted to follow.

I am horrified the power some mh services can have over the whole of someone's life. Sorry that sounds so negative but to diagnose someone so quickly during a mh crisis sounds foolish and dangerous to me.

The ''crisis'' team can create a crisis or make a crisis worse

Unfortunately Fuzzy that was exactly her experience and that of her family.

I wish I could say more positive things about them but I can't.

If you suffered a bad experience with the CT then my sincerest hugs to you.
