This is something I've never noticed or had any problems with, but more and more lately I've been noticing not only do I fairly often feel like and start to 'zone out' unless I catch and stop myself, but also at the same time my vision naturally feels like it wants to just unfocus and split into 2 images instead of a single focused image like normal.

I'm just wondering if anybody has any information about this and if it might be related to things like just generally feeling mentally (and/or emotionally) worn out and exhausted.

Maybe you ought to at least get your vision checked, just to be sure it is all good. I had a ton of eye problems as a young child, some, fairly serious, and there is no question, in looking back, that thoe at times were associated with feeling off or dazed or spacy. So, I relate. I hope you can get it sorted soon.

I did this during a manic episode but I don't know why.

Yes, I live with this symptom and blurring of the eyes often accompanies it.

I have CPTSD due to child abuse. There are quite a few resources her on PC about dissociation in PTSD.

What you have described is something that happens when I am emotionally maxed out, unwell. Kind of like my brain shutting down. Are you seeing a psychiatrist or doctor who might be able to suggest something?

I would just point out that the visual system in humans is obviously closely intertwined with the emotion regulation pathways, otherwise, when we looked at our baby, we would know it is our baby, but we wouldn't feel anything. I believe for some of us, these visual changes, experiences, whatever you want to call them, are quite possibly connected to our mental illnesses. Just my take.

Yeah that sounds like vision problems to me. Go get your eyes checked. You may need bifocals or reading glasses possibly.

Yes, I definitely do that. It happens mostly when I'm tired (which is most of the time). I truly don't think zoning out and unfocusing is any kind of a problem...if anything, I think it's a way of resting.

I definitely zone out with vision unfocusing but it doesn’t split into two.....would definitely recommend seeing an eye doc before other explanations.....

Yes, getting your eyes checked is always a good idea. I will say, however, that I also see things split in two (or double, sort-of) when I unfocus my eyes.

Wow I know exactly what you are describing. I try so hard to stay in the game but say we are having a meeting and all of the sudden i am gone eyes are not focused on anything not hearing anything, well hearing but not absorbing any information. I try to pull it back in even try to repeat what the person is saying in my head but the only word I have is the last one spoken. I do not know what this is at all but I wish I did so it could be fixed.
