Maybe this won't matter soon because I'm moving soon and will have a new doctor, but I've been going crazy because there is a diagnosis that all of my therapists thought I had and said I needed diagnosed, and even my relatives and complete strangers have made comments. (ASD). One therapist even gave me screenings and diagnosed it, but my psychiatrist said the therapist couldn't trump her diagnosis.
But my psychiatrist says no, I don't have that. While others have said it's obvious. I've been battling this for years... I've exausted posting on ASD forums... I'm bipolar big time complicating things but I have past trauma from being a disabled child (social skills problems, severe meltdowns I still get, being known as the bird girl, even ADHD symptoms, etc...) But my doctor didn't think my childhood matters!

This was set off by finding an old childhood psych report from 1994 that reminded me of my past... If I find the right doctor or psychologist I can get some peace... not even books like one I have about different childhood disorders have helped...

It sounds unsettling to be in the position you're in with your doctor. Good that you'll have a new one soon.

When you say ASD do you mean autism spectrum disorder?

Maybe the new doctor can help sort this all out for you. Sending you support and hugs.

Some ASD symptoms are so mild that many would argue that the person doesn’t have it. Let your new doctor look into it.

I wouldn’t go by what relatives and strangers believe about you.

not being able to refer to a diagnosis is tough. you've got your work cut out for you in therapy. Good luck with your new Dr. The most important view, is how you view yourself and understand yourself and least of all, what strangers believe about you.
