I'd like to know if you can think of any coping mechanisms to deal with this stressful situation. After a lifelong battle against major depression, I found social environment/ support and fitness to be my main allies, and everything was somewhat stabilized for many years.

But now, it is like everything is falling apart, and the uncertainty of the future is consuming my peace of mind. I bet many others are feeling the same, so I would love to hear from you, it would certainly help me and others who are struggling right now.

I did something today that made me feel a little better, I cleaned the house, did some schedule planning for activities (like daily light home workouts), and I am planning to write a good essay tonight too. Though it will not completely eliminate my concerns and worries about the aftermath of the virus (I live in New York, so it is scary in every sense) I feel like it is a good start.

Any ideas?
Im nit sure if this will help but I just had to write and say I've been feeling the same way ....I've been home by myself ...I used to go to a program with groups everyday ...it helped for years and I was doing so well I started volunteering at a local skilled nursing facility .. I also had a wonderful counselor at the time
She retired a while back and program wasn't the same. The cut hours and days ....from 4 days a week from 9-3 down to 2 days a week 9am-12 noon ... .worse only two groups one day and no groups the second day ... Since the cut I feel I've been going downhill again . .program wasn't helping . So I just go to see my counselor and psych Dr for scripts
My art work became my therapy ..
Tho since this pandemic and losing a close friend to it program is closed ....my counselor does phone sessions . .each day I feel gets harder to cope ....what does help is I've been coming on PC more and more ...this site is a Huge support ....I've lost all motivation to get back into art ...I can hardly sleep more than 3 hours a day. And each day I get more and more afraid of going out . I had to go to a store the other day and had a bad anxiety attack my friend had to take me home ...
Besides PC what keeps me going this summer is my little garden I have out back I care for .. marrigolds, tomato plant and cucumber plant ...watching them grow as I care for them is uplifting during this sad time
You're not alone .....please stay safe ...

We can either look at lemons and use them with drinks and put the juice over chicken, or you can make lemonades. I choose to do the later. This pandemic has been great for me, i love it. Although i would like to get back into permanent work again. Things have gone cap-sided for me financially. In all areas things are great. The thing about this life is the good things and bad things we encounter are temporary.
