My therapist says I need to work on this, and I am. But saying no without a reason is challenging. Especially when your needled for one. He tells me I don't owe them a reason. But with mom it's hard she acts like i owe her.

She lays claim to all my days off. Sometimes it's fine overtimes it's not. It's the not days I need help with.

when dealing with family it is often hard to set boundaries and stick to them. If your Mom expects to see you everyday your off then why not set a boundary of .... Hey Mom "im off next X day how about we do something then...

If she wants more time simple tell her that you have things you need to attend too and you need to find balance in your life and you appreciate her understanding that...

Often when we thank a person in advance for understanding it kind of throws them off and it can help the other person to pause..

Boundaries are hard for sue but they are not impossible.

Good luck

I said no. I've exercised, read a few chapters of a book. Just relaxing day. Been forever since I read a book.

Does your mom know you're in therapy?

Can you reserve a specific day of the week for yourself? For example, tell your mom you're unavailable on Saturdays because you're needing that day for yourself. If she asks you why, tell her it'll vary, each week, but to not rely on you for that day.

Yes my mom knows, I'm in therapy. She's very invasive. I found out she thought she was my guardian, I don't have one. But she's my emergency contact. Don't know that she believes she's not.

Like supposed to look after me, a guardian. She did take me to my initial doctor appointments. She thinks I need supervision.
