Hi I was just sitting and I rock a lot and unfortunately I think this caused the back of my chair to snap off, and I am using it as a foot rest now because luckily I owned two. Does anyone know a good way to stop rocking, usually I can catch myself but then I just start doing it once I stop thinking about it eventually. Maybe if I tied my torso to the chair it would remind me that I can't rock because I would feel the resistance and remember.

Is that an office chair? Maybe not the best long term rocker. Do you rock when not in a rocking chair? If not, you probably need to invest in a good rocking chair. I think rocking is a self soother, or a nervous habit like clicking a pen or cracking knuckles. Mostly harmless usually. I have a rocker recliner and I'm always rocking when I have the footrest down.

I rock in about every type of chair, the only time I don't is when the car is stopped at a red light or I am driving. People usually think I like their music so that is a plus. unfortunately the only chairs I have bought are office chairs.... Maybe I should manufacture an office rocking chair of some kind. Or I could sit on the ground and lower my desk possibly, thank you for replying and letting me know I should purchase my next chair based on it's rocking ability and not it's atheistic. In high school I always had a great time bouncing on the exercise ball while sitting.

Just try mind relaxing techniques. You are rocking either because of irritation or frustration.
