I'm not trying to be controversial here!!!!!!

Just saying...

Does anybody else here believe there are to many rules and regulations here at PC? I remember back in the day thinking the same thing, but NOW there are much more rules. I'm not one for rules, rules bother the crap out of me. I of course abide by them respectfully, I do my best...but it doesn't seize to chap my butt when I have to watch what I do all the time.

No offense to the mods, or Doc, or whoever contributes to rules and regulations...I'm just saying "I have a problem with rules"..that's all.

Which rule in particular bothers you?

IMHO, without rules/guidelines, we would have total chaos (sp), as IRL we all must go by rules of the community, when you have children/families you must set up rules/guidelines so ppl can interact appropriatly (sp) not meant to offend anyone just my thoughts

Alot of them Peg...it's so unnecessary to enforce some of the things they do here...most are just common sense and courtesy, those rules are cool with me but the others are just..blah.

I agree nothemama, some basic guidelines are necessary...but what's beyond that is constrictive.

I agree that some rules are needed. I do think that there are a few too many, at times, though.

Its a hard one. I can see the point of the rules, but sometimes its suffocating.

sometimes it feels like there are too many forums here, and its like being squeezed in. I can see why we have all the different forums and it does make sense but somehow its like we lost sponteneity or something.

This isn't any ordinary site. This is a mental health support board. Guidelines are followed to protect all the fragile souls here.

Guidelines are in place for a reason and may not always be apparent as to why. For more in depth answers please direct questions in pm to the community team.

Thanks,
Rayna

Are you reacting to a rule that was enforced you didn't agree with the enforcement of or to your perception that the existence of a rule means it is always enforced, for all people, at all times, and someone is just sitting there watching that particular rule and your behavior, salivating, waiting to enforce it?

There are zillions of rules floating around in society but not all apply equally? Sometimes rules are there just "in case" but never really get enforced. I don't read rules; I just behave normally To many rules

Some rules I think we're individually more triggered by? It's harder with such a large group of members too I think; people have different backgrounds, come from different countries and cultures. What might be acceptable somewhere else might not fit here with this setup and these members?

That's understandable Ray...the fragile state some of the members here are in should be considered..I agree.

I appreciate the feedback.

YouOme, if you have a particular complaint or suggestion, please place it in a PM to an admin.

I understand that I might have recently completed a minor action that might have upset, and a PM to me about it would be welcome. To many rules

Also, if there is anyone who has a concern about the guidelines or questions regarding them, please don't hesitate to PM.

Based on the guidelines, I'll be closing this thread.

Thanks!

KD

Like Mozart in the movie "Amadeus" said in response to a criticism of one of his pieces being "too long," "Which notes would you have me cut?"

Which rules would you have us cut?

Every rule is there because a set of people, over time, did something that caused harm or upset to one or more members. We didn't create them out of thin air (although we may have started with a basic set and have added them a few times over the years).

Trust me when I say, I'd love it we had one rule here, something about respecting everyone as another real, human being who needs the same care and respect you do. But unfortunately that simply wasn't enough and many people demand clarity from us. So we have a fairly clear set, that gets added to when situations arise where we need to add to them. But we only do so once or twice a year -- at most -- so mostly the rules stay the same and people understand the expectations have always remained the same.
