I've picked up Goodbye Stress to have in my home which includes GABA. I haven't used it, yet. Though I recognize that supplements are not regulated by the fda, I've seen some positive feedback in some non pc types of settings.

Maybe ask a pharmacist? I'm not well versed in dietary/nutritional supplements.

I've taken picamilon for anxiety. I took it for over 2 weeks with no side effects. Picamilon is a mix of GABA and vitamin 3. In general, I felt mentally better than I usually do (anxiety, explained and unexplained mood swings). I haven't tried any other GABA supplements. I think it is OK to take long term. It is supposed to have next to no side effects. Most studies appear to involve animal testing, though, which always makes me suspicious. This is all the information and experience I have, so definitely get more opinions.

I'm currently taking GABA supplements (500mg and just GABA).
I had heard from several people that it wasn't good to take them for over 2 months straight (I have no idea why); but when I asked by my Pdoc she said it was okay, and that she had even put children on it, so it's not harmful. My experience is that it helps me stay a little more calm, but the effect is not too big. There are no side effects that I know of (as long as you don't go over the recommended dose) __________________ |

One thing with GABA is it doest easily cross the blood/brain barrier . I forget if it's grape seed oil or black seed oil, but there is companion supplement needed for GABA.

I've recently bought just GABA. I take 1000mg powder dissolved in water. I think it slightly takes the edge off anxiety, but one side effect I had, which lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, is a prickling sensation on the skin (neck, hands, legs), which was a bit uncomfortable first. I looked it up, and apparently it is a harmless side effect.
