I just started TMS treatment this week, and I would like to know how those of you who have also had TMS felt about the discomfort of the pulses. I don't quite agree with the idea that it is "painless," because I define the discomfort I feel as pain, even if it relatively lower level, in the grand scheme of things.

I am three sessions into it. Will the level of intensity be increased as time goes on, or is this different for each patient?

I am glad that the length of each session is 18 minutes. But i have read that this length can also vary to be a little shorter or even much longer. Is this something that adjusts along the way, or does it remain the same for the duration of one's sessions and just depend on the patient and the provider?

How was the pain level for others? Length? Overall handling of the sensations?

I've started to be able to just deal with it. It took a few sessions, but it isn't quite as bad as it was in the beginning. But after my appointment when they check on settings and look into possible adjustments, this might change.

Hi there. Glad you are hanging in there. My sessions were closer to 40 minutes. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. It felt like a darn woodpecker on my head! Sometimes I’d have a slight headache afterwards. I think the headache was due to the noise and tapping/twitching, though, and not magnetic stuff.

I don't remember having pain. Only the sensation of having a woodpecker on my head. Maybe it would be a good thing to talk about the side effects with the person who is doing the TMS and the doctor.

After the "re-do" appointment with the doctor, they didn't really make any adjustments. But, as I said things have become much more tolerable as I got used to it. One thing I thought was interesting and enlightening was that one of the techs I work with remarked that my settings were higher than most others she has worked with. In an odd way, it made me feel a bit better about being able to adjust ot the treatment with settings on the higher end of her average. Now, I am just waiting for actual positive results to occur.

I hope it became a little less uncomfortable. I really had to distract myself as much as possible with video or talking.

My last session is coming up next week. There was a period near the middle where I started to feel really sad, my mood just dipping into that low place. That has passed. There was about a week in there where I started to feel more "normal," but it seems to have coincided with restarting more regular exercise. This past week, it's been okay, emotionally. But kind of, I'm not sure how to describe, a bit better than just blah. But I also haven't been in the gym much this week. So it is kind of hard to tell if the TMS actually helped me or not. The exercise seems to have helped more than the TMS. But they may be working in tandem, so I can't be conclusive on that.

I have just 5 more sessions. I finally acclimated to the discomfort during week 4. This week I've started feeling better.

I finished the 30 scheduled sessions and the doctor decided to schedule 6 more since my insurance had already approved them.
