Hello
My background; on and off anti depressants for around 12 years now. I have had lots of therapists in the past both NHS and private. However all they seem to want to offer me is CBT. I have been talked into trying CBT one more time on numerous occasions with the same outcome. I have recently tried an alternative therapy called EFT (emotional freedom technique / tapping) however this left me the most anxious, suicidal and harmful to myself I have been for a long time. I have tried to find other therapies to try or other therapists to see but I keep going around in circles. I’ve emailed organisations and contacted my GP but I get the standard response of the last 15 years of medication and CBT. Ideally I would want something intensive, instead of 6 hours split over 6 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Ever tried mindfulness, meditation, and radical acceptance? Those really help me with chronic unipolar depression.

[QUOTE=Kash123;6557931]Thanks I’ll look into those. With hormone balance can I ask was that to do with help around the menopausal age or is it okay to look into at anytime?
No menopause for me. I'm too young. You can do the acupuncture any time in your life to help with hormone balance. I started it regularly in my 30s d/t migraines which were linked to my cycle which was also highly irregular. Also affecting my mood. Has helped me a great deal with lots of things including mood. My cycle is now like clockwork. Regular treatments are important for chronic issues....not just a one time session if you know what I mean. |

You might also want to look into:
- Neurofeedback - hard to find good practitioners, but some people have had really great results. I'm doing this on my own (at home) and things are definitely changing, but it's been a bit of a challenge. My brain is a bit weird in how it reacts (according to the person advising me), but I also think it might have been easier if I were seeing someone in person rather than trying to do it remotely. (Specifically, I find it challenging to find the correct spots on my head.) If you see someone in person, I think people often go 2-3x/week. - I've seen people here talk about TMS as well - check out the forum. I don't have experience with it, but my last T recommended it. |
