I've not used it myself. But here are links to 3 articles, from PC's archives, on the subject. The first article, in particular, provides links to additional resource material:

I first used it about 25 years ago when there was an elaborate sequence of steps to do. It has been greatly simplified today.
I haven't used it lately as I have other tools, but it did work, especially when I had overwhelming depression/pain well up inside me. I would tap furiously while I sat and felt the pain. I'm talking pain that could bring me to my knees. Really feel it (but don't engage with it), as strongly as you dare. Don't block it or suppress it in any way while you tap on your chosen "site". Eventually, the pain will dissipate, and you will feel incredible relief. Sometimes, you need to repeat the above to get the full release of your emotional pain or issue. There are quite a few books on it, but you can find all you need on internet sites. PS: By "don't engage" I mean don't relate your emotional pain to any event. It is in you, you want it out. |

I have done it a ton over the years. I gets a bad rap, which I thik is unfair, personally. I have found it very helpful. for me, it is really just a lot like CBT in how it works. At least for me.
I would give it a shot, if you are considering it. It can help, in my opinion. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

I am not saying it wont work or that its bunk I just like to play devils advocate when the science doesnt add up. I am also not saying it didnt work for people. I tried accupuncture for pain and it did nothing for my pain but it did wonders for my anxiety. My issue is when treatments like these are exalted above evidence based treatments or at least pushed in lieu of other treatments or marketed as a cure or the "only" solution. In that case I feel like these types of treatments may cause harm in the sense that if they are pushed as the ideal solution, someone may avoid professional help. But for people who have tried the standard types of help and have a doctor or therapists' approval I see no harm.
