Curious if anyone has done any Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs for eating disorders could share a bit about their experience? What it helped with and didn't help with, what you liked and didn't like, etc.? I'm considering this option for myself and have never done it before.

Well I have anorexia and had a huge episode about 3 years ago. My GP Pdoc and Therapist were all at the stage of something has to change or it will be time for a feeding tube.
Where I live the closest eating disorder clinic that offers IOP and IP is over 175 miles away, I am on disability and have Medicare. Not only did they not accept Medicare, they only treated teens to age 26 or something , I was 49 ! And they had a estimate wait time for a bed at 6 weeks ! eventually I found one just over 300 miles away and they accept old disabled people on Medicare. There was no way I could travel that far. I had no choice but to lean on my providers and finally able to slowly begin food. It’s against PC guidelines to talk about weight or calories as it can trigger others into a episode. I hope someone comes along with first hand experience Good luck I hope you find help __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |
