A friend of mine takes Ashwaghanda for anxiety. She says it helps her more than Lexapro did.

Has anyone tried it? Does anyone have a health care provider that recommends alternative therapies for anxiety?

I take ashwagandha sometimes.

It makes me not care about having stress to the point where I just let it all out on someone or something.

It sounds like ashwaghanda has potentially good benefits. The trick with a supplement is that if you take any medication everything has to be coordinated.

I look forward to a time when MD's are knowledgeable about using supplements. I would like to try something like ashwaghanda, but I don't have the $$$ to pay a holistic MD to balance all the treatments for me. It's frustrating.

Hi Lilymop,

Yes I have tried Ashwaghanda - it was recommended to me by a Psychiatrist in DBT back in 2014 / 2015.

I took it for a few months and I didn't notice any real positive impacts - but I was under a lot of stress as my therapy went south. Perhaps I didn't take it long enough, but I was told to buy one specific brand - as the other ones apparently had issues meeting their ingredient requirements as per their label... No joke! Even my Psychiatrist admitted this to me. I believe the brand that I was recommended was called, "Nature's Way Ashwaghanda." It was quite expensive, but I have heard numerous good things. My Psychiatrist at the time (who specialized in alternative medicines) recommended it for anxiety / depression.

Please let us know how it goes if and when you decide to take it.

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

I've been taking Ashwagandha since I made my last post on this thread almost every day (For 2 months). I think it really helps me go into a meditative state almost.

I ran out of it and I notice a difference. I'm much better while on it.

I'm trying a new brand called "Shoden® Ashwagandha Extract Powder | 35% Withanolides" which is supposed to be a more concentrated version of Ashwagandha - But I'm also buying the regular Ashwagandha from Amazon. I think I bought that like 3 times already - It's good.

Helps with stress. I'm hesitant to continue taking it though because it could possibly mess with hormones and the thyroid.
