I have many to tell, but I will start with one: if I'm laying in bed, and ask my dog a question ("should we get up?" "need to potty?" "time for breakfast?") her response is to come over and lay down on my face.

The one dog, when she listens, tilts her head 90 degress, like a lot of dogs do but if she is really listening intently, she turns her head 180-200/220 degrees, upside down and further. This I had never seen before. It is almost as if her head in on a swivel and not attached. It freaks people out; it's cute that she tries so hard to understand, I fear she will hurt herself though. However, she does it so fast at times, I expect to see the exorcist come out in my dog for a full 360. Then I will freak out.
One of the other dogs, no matter what we've done will not eat or drink or do anything with things that are stainless steel or look like it. She won't even go near the fridge, stove or dishwasher, so that she won't go in the kitchen. Even the vets table is a struggle. I am out of ideas on how to help her with this. I was told lately to make everything around her stainless to face her fear, sort of like immersion therapy..... we'll see if that might work. The third dog, knowing how dogs shed, she sheds black balls/large fluffy tufts. She is part Australian Shepard, she herds her tufts by blowing them or shuffling them around into particular corners if I don't get to them first, then sometimes plays with them, tosses them, will roll in them. like kids do with leaves in the fall. Sometimes I let it go, sometimes it makes too much more of a mess. It is fun to watch her play though. I have a fish that does 2 somersaults before I feed her. Never taught her to do that but the kids love watching her and her excitement. __________________ I can be changed by what happens to me. I used to have a pony (he died in 2010). Besides riding on his back, we'd also have him pull a cart occasionally. If we took the cart from the barn it was kept in (whether because we wanted to use the cart or because it was in the way) the pony would stand at the gate of his paddock and he'd stand there until he was either taken out - to be put before the cart - or the cart would go back into the barn, even if that took hours, he liked pulling the cart that much.

Sir likes to cover his food. He has a paper plate he paws into position over his food when he is done with it and noses off when he's ready to eat more. He's a cat.

Our cat head butts me like a goat when I turn over and stop petting her in bed. It works.

If we ask Virginia Woof, my little dog, what she wants, she rolls her eyes in the direction of whatever it is she's after. Eye roll toward door=out, eye roll toward toy= let's play. It's cute and a little freaky--- is this language?

Our cat would always move food from dish to floor before eating it.

I don’t know if it’s language, but it’s definitely communication.

She tried it again later and got a reaction. So she figured it was a good way to get attention. Thereafter, she would quietly sit down in front of someone -- facing away from them. Then she would tip her head up and back far enough to peer at the person with her eyes. This invariably provoked laughter or at least a smile because it did look funny and quirky. And she would do it to complete strangers because it worked particularly well on them. |

i had to give them away a while ago because i was looking for a new place but i had rats. if youve ever owned them yourself youll know how intelligent, friendly and generally quirky they are. i didnt like keeping them caged so, so long as i was in, i would essentially let them live outside of the cage with me. theyd make dens in random places and come see me when they wanted to interact or eat w.e i was snacking on.
theyre so playful, its hard to pick one quirk, like theyre love of climbing things just to climb them, or hiding in my hoodie while i was wearing it. but the most memorable quirk that id like to mention, if they were in their cage and i came to see them for snacks or general fussing over them, theyd come to the top of the cage where i would lift the roof off to interact. but if i had the cage roof down, and stuck my fingers through the centre of the roof, they would climb up and monkey swing over to my fingers. it was very impressive, especially the fact that they knew thats what i wanted them to do. i miss my rattyrats. __________________ remember, no matter where you go, there you are. |

My sister's black cat does this thing we call "scarfing" where he will lay across your shoulders like a scarf and just stay there. It's really cute.

One of my cats "talks" back. She's naughty, and when I tell her "no" or "get down!" or whatever it may be, she snarks. It's hard to explain--but it's something like that "Rawr!" sound people make at each other when someone is being particularly catty. She's very smart, and has a huge attitude.

I’ve had a lot of cats, but I have never seen one do this. If she is sleeping, and you walk up and pet her or kiss her, she won’t open her eyes! She just tucks her face into her paw! Go away I’m sleeping, LOL

Both of my cats do this! They aren’t related and have a huge age difference(Charmander is 14 and Abby is around 1). Abby is my weird kid. She acts more like a dog than a cat. She’s very licky, chases her tail, and enjoys fetch. |

My cat Jasmine sleeps with her face in her paw. She looks like she's facepalming when she sleeps.
