Have y'all seen the video that is going viral of a woman at a mall going off on a service dog handler for telling her that her daughter could not pet service dogs?
A group of service dog handlers met at a mall for training purposes for the dogs. A mother with a two year old asked one of the handlers if her daughter could pet the dog. The handler responded with an abrupt "no." The mother then proceeds to go off about how rude the handler was. The dogs were all wearing their working vests with patches that say "Do not pet." She ended up getting mall security involved. Hehe, security told her that you're not allowed to pet working dogs. What really got me watching the video (in addition to her childish, self-entitled rant) was the way she treated her daughter. As she's ranting at the handlers she's got the child slung over hip like a sack of potatoes. Then she tries to jam the kid into her stroller and gives up when the child won't go in. Hmm, wonder where the child learned that behavior? There is a training facility for service dogs for people who are deaf not far from me. As a result we frequently see dogs in training in stores, etc. I'll admit that when I see one of the Golden Retriever pups out in public I get all gushy inside, but I also know not to pet them or distract them from their training. Here's a link to a story about the self-entitled idiot that includes the video. "Entitled" Mom Throws Fit After Woman Won'''t Let Her Pet Service Dog |

While searching for more info about the story above I stumbled across a story about a woman going off about a veteran and his service dog in a restaurant. Her"explanation" after the event was that the dog's butt was even with the top of her table and it disgusted her. Okay, how about moving to another table? From the video there were plenty of empty seats in the place. How about asking the vet if he would ask the dog to sit down? How about acting like a reasonable, grown-up person?
What really got to me was that the vet has the dog because he has PTSD and here is this woman screaming at him about the dog. Sounds like a HUGE trigger to me! YouTube |

Oh yeah, I wanted to go all aww and ooo over a very large handsome working dog just a few weeks ago, but restrained myself. Those are working dogs! The public has no right to bother then just because the work in public!

Boy! I had to turn the second one off that lady was so loud and piercing I'm seriously surprised the dog stayed so calm.

Wow, that sounds pretty immature. They are service dogs for a reason, they are working.

Wow! Those are some serious unresolved anger issues.

The lady in the second video went to the media and played the race card, claiming that people in the restaurant cursed at her and used the N-word. If you listen to the recording no one curses or uses racial slurs. Witnesses also said no one used those words.
I don't know if these two have unresolved anger issues. They come across as self-entitled female dogs! |

Something I saw in some comments regarding the video was that you should always ask a dog owner's permission before petting a dog. Even if It's not a working dog I'm going to respect the owner's wishes. If they say "no petting", then it's no petting. My BG, which stands for Big Goof, is what his name says. BUT if someone asks to pet him I usually say no. He is most likely to lick them to death but he is big and he's part pit. I'm not willing to take the risk of him potentially hurting someone. |

That is absolutely disgusting. No one should approach or touch a strange dog without permission let alone a service animal. Working dogs are not meant to be played with and petted.

I couldn't stand that video either. I had to watch a bunch of happy puppy videos just to get that taste out of my mouth.
