Attn. All Cat People! I want to hear about your fuzz balls!
My wife and I had a cat named Horus. He was a big guy who would "pin" us aka lay on her for an extended period of time, especially if either one of us was wearing a big fluffy sweater. Well, he passed very suddenly last year. It made my wife extremely sad. This was her little guy. Well, we had talked about getting another kitty to have around the house. She agreed to one cat. She wanted a black, long hair kitty. Her request was this... "I want the "Floofiest" cat possible!" Well, my friend's cat had kittens and there mother had vanished soon after having them. They were in desperate need of a home. So, I went over there to pick up the "floof ball" that met all of my wife's requirements (this was after only 3 weeks of quality time with the mama cat). He was playing with his sister, a cute little tabby who was SO TINY. She was the runt of the litter and could fit in the palm of your hand. When I picked up the floof ball I had come for, she just looked at him with her pretty blue eyes and meowed softly as I carried him away. She didn't know what was happening and looked really scared. I had taken away her protector. But, I had only come for one, I had to leave her behind. I had no choice. They didn't break eye contact until I put him in the car. She didn't understand why she was being left behind. When I put him in the car it seemed like he was looking around for her and already wondering where she was I had to witness this entire thing and it broke my heart. But, I had to stick to my agreement with my wife. We only had room for one kitten. ... So, now I'm heading home with two kittens in the car (come on, who do you think I am!) and they are sleeping cuddled up together. Perfect little brother and sister. I call my wife... "My love, I am on the way home! Oh yeah, by the way, I stopped to pick you up a few things. Don't worry, just a couple little things... ." When I got them home, let's just say thank God they we're so darn cute! I would have GOTTEN IT otherwise (*cough* worth it). We named the boy Nimbus (like a storm cloud) and the little girl Bindi (a drangon name my wife liked). However, and I am curious if anyone else does this? B actually only use their names for the vet, at home we all simply call him "The Floof" and call her "Baby Girl (pronounced more like bebe gurlll)". They have been a wonderful addition to our lives and my wife still thanks me to this day for going against her wishes and bringing both of them home They sleep with us together. They play together. They are literally almost inseparable and the friendliest most cuddly kittens we've ever had. Together, we make a wonderful family __________________ Recovering from the past. Growing in the present. My kitty Franny had to be put down 5 years ago and I am still not the same. We have 2 smallish dogs and it was fine introducing them into the household because Franny made it clear that she was the boss. Introducing a new cat into a house with dogs I worry more about because I do not know how they would react. Plus I do not mind one less pooper to clean up after. She was a good cat- the kind that people who hate cats would still like. My husband and I's retirement plans are to get a super nice rv and travel. We would like to get a mainecoon cat for our pet. Once the dogs are gone I cant see myself getting another one.

Double thanks Bonsai!!! I can't explain why, because I'm actually a big dog person, but I found the photos of those two little kitties very moving . Good for you seeing the bond between them so clearly!!!
I hope that when I do eventually get myself a big dog, I don't end up with the whole litter!!! |

They're adorable!! So, you have kittens racing around? Do they jump straight up into the air? I love seeing that, cracks me up every time, LOL

BonsaiGuy, thank you so much for not separating the babies. They are absolutely precious looking.
I have a story similar to yours. Years ago I picked out a new kitten from a litter at a friend's house. I went back a few weeks later to collect him when he was old enough. The whole time I was at her house a female kitten kept staring at me and meowing this pitiful meow. I gave up and said I'd take them both home without consulting hubby. He was leaving for work when I got home with them. He peaked in the carrier and said "There's TWO kittens in there!!!!" and left for work. I told the little girl she needed to suck up to him big time. She did and melted his heart. She bonded with him and the little boy bonded with me. You mentioned calling the babies by names other than their "given" names. All of my crew have nicknames. We once had a whole thread about nicknames for our fur babies. |
