I have a cat named Evy and a stray cat that adopted us named Cleo the Calico (Cleo for short).
We had a dog named Max, a dog named Sarge, a cat named Salem, and a cat named Mr. Biggles. I occasionally name my betta fish but usually forget their names. I think for a future dog/cat name, I like Elwood, especially for a black cat. What are your pet's names? Which future pet names are you considering? |

I have a Hahn's macaw. His name is Neruda. We picked the name because of both the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and the Czech writer/poet Jan Neruda. Pablo Neruda actually took the name Neruda from Jan Neruda. Pablo Neruda's original name was Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto.
Our bird boy can say his name, as well as many other things. He predominately says words and phrases in Czech. He is extremely intelligent and usually says the words/phrases at the appropriate times. For example, when my husband is getting dressed to go to work, he says "Pa pa", which means "Bye Bye". When we cover him he says "Dobrou", which means "Night night". When we ask him where he is, he says "Tady!", which means "Here!". When he is bad or he wants what you're eating, he says "I'm good!" or "I'm very good!", in Czech. Etc. |

Lark, is Elwood inspired by Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey?
Okay, critter names are..... BG (dog) BG stands for either Big Goof or Big Guy. I sometimes run the letters together and call him Beeg or Beeger. Boomer (cat) I had him several weeks trying to figure out his name. He was real standoffish until one night when we had a bad thunder storm. There was a big boomer of thunder and he ran over and jumped in my lap. Instant naming. Abby (cat) named for Abby on NCIS. I like the character and the name fits her though she's not goth. Dobby (cat) Harry Potter fans will recognize the name of Dobby the house elf who followed Harry around saying "Harry Potter. Harry Potter." My Dobby had/has the same clingy/wanting attention behavior. Mikey (cat) he is an orphaned rescue I got when he was about two weeks old. One night this itty bitty kitty started bellowing at me. I turned around and said "Well aren't you a Motor Mouth Mikey?" He's part Maine Coon which is an indication of what talker he is. Ollie (cat) Anyone watch Arrow on TV? The main character is named Ollie. My Ollie has an arrow on his tummy that points at his non-existent privates. What can I say? I have a warped sense of humor. Miette (cat) while she is quite rough and tumble, she is also a sweet little thing. Miette is French for sweet little thing. Kieran (horse) It's Irish for little dark one. He is a grey horse with interesting black smudges on his face and neck. (my ancestry is French and Irish among other things.) Hen-rietta (chicken) A really bad pun! Hey, I said I have a strange sense of humor! I don't have any names picked out for future pets. I believe that once they come to live with me their name will become apparent. |

Cats named Sammy and Caroline and a dog named Raven. They are the names they had when we adopted them.
I always hope to at least have a cat and a dog, but don't have any names yet. |

Ming is a rescue cat. We adopted her when she was 2. She is Queen of the house and is a grey tortie. She is 8. She sleeps on my chest.
Coco is a stray cat we found in a driveway when she was a kitten. She is still a bit stand-off-ish, but permits lot of smooches just doesn't like to be picked up. She is charcoal grey. She is 3. Our latest addition to our family is Harry (named by my son after Harry Potter of course). He is a 10-month old malteseXpoodle and is just the biggest love bug. He is slowly developing a relationship with the cats. The cats are slowly accepting that he is here to stay __________________ I'm going to make the rest of my life, the best of my life. |

We have two ragdoll munchkin cats. We decided on Lovecraftian names for the tiny terrors. The boy is named Cathulhu (Lhu for short), and his sister is Kassogtha (Kass for short). According to Lovecraft lore, Kassogtha is "a Great Old One that is reported to be Cthulhu's sister and mate. She is described as a writhing mass of tentacles." Considering how much mayhem the two of them wreak around the house, the names are very appropriate.
