Cats Like People! (Some People, Anyway) - The New York Times

Quote:
Aloof, mysterious and independent, cats are with us only because we feed them.

Or maybe not. On Monday, researchers reported that cats are just as strongly bonded to us as dogs or infants...

I understand the need for scientific evidence of things, but any cat person knows this is true.

Mikey lived inside my shirt the first couple of weeks I had him. His feline mother abandoned him at a few weeks old. I kept him warm, fed him, wiped his b-hind. He considers me his mom. Miette and I had an instant connection.

I have six of the feline critters. We are all bonded to one extent or another.

I once had a kitty who would climb up into my arms every day at 3 PM for an hour nap. Once she was grown, that stopped.

My other kitties were affectionate. I took one cat in ages ago who hated people, probably had been abused. It bit me and had to be tested for rabies. That was scary. Sadly, they put it down after the testing.

You know, there are all sorts of kitties, like there are so many different sorts of people.

I liked the comments for the article, where people wrote in the special things their cats did. That was sweet. Theyre like, huh what nonsense for the nytimes! Then, but this is what MY cat does...!

Each one of my 5 cats are very bonded to me. The cat/person relationship is all about them trusting their person.
