Owner reunited with cat found 1,200 miles from Portland home - BBC News

Quote:
A man in the US state of Oregon has been reunited with his missing cat after it was discovered on the streets some 1,200 miles (1,900km) away.

The black cat, named Sasha, was recently found in the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, five years after disappearing from its Portland home.

Thanks for this. My wife mentioned to me today that she saw an article in our local newspaper about a pet Russian tortoise that had escaped from it's owner's yard (apparently they're master escape artists.) It was later found near the owner's former home which they had moved from several years prior.

It seems that homing instincts are well entrenched in some turtles. The owners better make their current home more secure.

The story about the cat points out the benefits of microchipping. All my critters, including the horse, are microchipped.
