Sick cat...with my funding low. I always knew I'd get caught short. Trying to contact my mental health org. which often issues small loans to clients. Never did that before so I'm hopeful my application is approved.
Timing is key however...puss hasn't had food or water for almost 5 days now...barring what meager bits of slurry I can syringe into her mouth. She gets enough to keep her liver from shutting down anyway...I think. That's the danger according to the vet. She gets a little water that way too but not much because she throws up any more than a half-thimble full. Not been to the loo either. I can access a fund that helps people with fixed incomes pay for vet care but they still need an amount I don't have and won't have for a couple of weeks. I can't pay in part with the rest owing either. Tough stuff. It's a business after all...they've got that policy for good reason no doubt. I'm surprising myself at how cool I am so far. I hope that stays...playing the waiting game right now. Cool so far. Though it IS 3PM and another long night ahead. I just waited all weekend only to be staggered by my vets policy. This IS my fault. If we had a pawn shop I'd be ok. If I hadn't insulated and isolated myself I'd have backup. Need to be careful here...no bashing myself. Can't afford to do that. Better just not say anything else I suppose. Just putting down a few thoughts to help somehow. |

Have you tried asking the vet for a payment plan?

I have applied for a small loan through my mental health agency...I'll find out tomorrow if it passes. I won't look beyond that for now. I've had a checkered financial history...so much so that I can state with more than a degree of shame...that my credit bites the hiney. I'm not a bad guy...but I've never managed life easily. *a little red* I don't live a very traditional life...but if I had proper credit the cat would at least for the moment, be fine. Thanks for the question though. Hopefully tomorrow will be fine...I just need to get her through another night. No change in her situation but her vitals MUST be getting pretty stressed. Her breathing still seems ok...but she's growing more lethargic. I'm not too happy but she doesn't seem in pain. She's 12 yrs old...12 in Sept. or so. Anyway...we'll see how it goes.

Finger crossed that you will get the loan and that your cat can hang on a bit longer.

My little buddy passed. Big growth in her chest. I noticed about 6 months or so she had acquired a new way of sitting sometimes. She gave no indication of being in pain but now it adds up. She was trying to get comfortable. Thank you to all who posted.

I had to put a cat down a couple of years ago. She was only 2 and a half, but stopped eating (much like yours). I never figured out what caused her to stop, but not eating causes liver problems. She was basically starving to death, so I put her out of her misery. I just wanted you to know I can empathize.
In my case, I had another cat to comfort me. Do you have any human or animal companion to help you through this? |
