I agree with lizardlady. Its not been long at all. Be kind and gentle with yourself. When you lose someone you love deeply, grief stays with us for a long time, or so I'm told. Maybe it transforms in time. I really hope this doesn't sound trite bc I don't mean it that way at all, but the saying "its better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all" comes to my mind. I've never lost a pet I've deeply loved. I am so sorry you're going through the pain of loss. Your grief is a testament to your love though, and your ability to love, and the connection you guys had. And Joey will not be forgotten. Sending you gentle hugs.

I am sorry to hear that I know losing a pet can be very hard. I had to finally make the decision to have my cat put down a couple of years ago.
