many months ago I came home from work, walked into my bedroom and saw a little brown sparrow hanging onto the window screen. it was such a cute little thing. I backed out to give it space to fly out. it did and landed by my kitchen window. i opened the front door and sat on the floor so that it wouldn't be scared of me and could fly out. however, instead of flying out, it hopped towards me. what is going on i was thinking. why is it hopping towards me? then it flew onto my head! after that it flew back by the kitchen window. i went to my neighbor and told her what was going on. she and i were always saving birds. she told me the sparrow had been in their unit and had hopped on their heads too. she brought me a little cage and we managed to catch the sparrow and i put up a sign in the lobby to see if anyone had lost a bird. i also posted on craigslist. no one came forward to claim the bird but one after another, people in my building began to tell me the sparrow had flown into their unit too and either landed on their heads or onto their shoulders. the next day, while i was cleaning the cage the sparrow got out and flew away so i thought that was that. but then another person in the building who had seen my sign told me that the sparrow had gone into their unit and they had decided to keep her.
the man just updated me that his whole family absolutely adores the bird. they play with her (it's a her) and she cuddles in their arms and sleeps by their head when they are taking a nap. i am so happy that she found such a loving home. she never gave up looking for a family. |

That’s so cute! I used to have a friend who had a finger tame budgie, he liked doing similar things (although had a bit of a mean streak too lol).

Birds can be so sweet. I rescued one from my cat this morning--took it outside and I'm glad to say it was able to fly away.
