My latest cat, who is an orange tabby that I have had for over a year, has recently caught two mice -- inside! I am not sure how they get in, but today I found a small hole in the wall. Maybe that is it. I put some aluminum foil in the hole. Maybe no more mice?

That looks like a small rat!
My ma had mice - i almost had a heart attack! It popped up on the back of the couch across the living room from me late one night and LOOKED at me. My poor ma was sleeping and i was about busting out of my skin. The thing was STINKY! And he was a dirty gray. He didnt have a nice white belly like your buddy there. I wonder if one of your neighbors lost a pet or a school project or their snakes snack? Your cat looks pretty happy to have a playmate! |

Steel wool or SOS pads are supposed to be a good deterrent. A piece of metal or plastic might also help. Winter is a time mice look for cover and a nice place to stay. I make sure not to leave food around. I have catch and release traps with peanut butter that catch them also. Our cat passed so I have to rely on mechanical devices.

One of my cats brings all sorts of critters through the cat door--mice, moles, a baby rabbit, lizards, birds, and even some little snakes. She plays with them. I don't think she ever eats them. If we can, we get the critter and take it out in the yard.
