I have been able to remove some of the unhealthy snacks from my food plan, but I still have trouble with rice. I feel like I don't eat right if I don't have a lot of rice on my plate. I've tried several things, even using a small plate so I can't put too much rice, but I end up having a second serving and still eat a lot.
Do you have any tips for me? How do you avert your mind from the rice? |

I am unaware of your food situation and plan, but is their something you like just as much as rice?
my suggestion would be to write in okay, I'm going to have this amount of rice today, then if I need/ want anything else, I'm going to eat this (the rice substitute), a certain amount another Idea could be buying only enough rice to last you for how ever many portions you are having a week.. say you have one per day, buy enough rice for 7 portions once they are gone, they are gone- you can't be distracted by it because it's not in the house good luck! |

I love tea and chocolates, but my attachment to rice is much harder to control. With chocolates, at least, I can stop myself from eating too much when I focus on my weight and the health risks.
I live with my parents and siblings, so we will always have more than enough rice, but I'll see what I can do. If I do go that way, the real challenge will be to stop myself from ordering takeouts just to get the rice. Do you also substitute your carbohydrate sources with something else? |

on fridays I'll write what I want to eat for the following week, so I can get the food ordered in but more often than not, I'll order what I want, plus extra helpings of candy- so between meals I am eating way too much it's the same for chips/ fries. I know I should vary what I have in a week, but again, more often than not, it's like oh well.. I'll just have fries with that, that and that, and before you know it I've eaten fries every day of the week think as well because my diet is so limited (their is a lot I don't like), it is hard to find substitutes I mean apart from fries, I'll eat potato waffles, and maybe roast potatoes, but that's it |

I am also a picky eater, so it's really hard to find something else to satisfy me as much as rice does. Potatoes and corns are not helpful. Noodles are just different. Instead, I find more things to eat with rice, so it gets tough to control at times.
I'm thinking to try other kinds of rice, like the red and brown rice. Has anyone ever tried those? |

Hi Crystal, white rice is a problem for me too.
I'm a compulsive/emotional overeater, and when I am eating sanely, I do stick to brown rice. I still have to measure out the portion, but brown rice doesn't trigger overeating with me like white rice does. I love white rice, and find it so comforting I can eat an insanely large amount. |
