Hi,
I have a daughter who is 15 years old, and I saw signs or symptoms of ADHD in her. I'm very worried because it affects her studies and she doesn't want to undergo a medical treatment. What should I do? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you. |

First take her to a therapist. They can help without medication. We had a lot of success with learning rx when my son was little. It's probably changed it's name by now. As for school can she get a tutor?

Hello rachN: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the website to be of benefit.
It appears your post was moved from the new members introductions forum over here to partners of people & caregivers forum. Another forum, here on PC, that may be of interest to you would be the healthy parenting forum. Here's a link: https://forums.psychcentral.com/healthy-parenting/ There is, of course, also a forum dedicated to ADHD: https://forums.psychcentral.com/atte...rder-add-adhd/ Here are links to some articles on the subject of ADHD, from PsychCentral's archives, that may be of interest, the first by our host Dr. John Grohol, Psy.D. Also included is a link to a quiz you can take to help determine if your daughter has ADHD: https://psychcentral.com/disorders/c...adhd-symptoms/ https://psychcentral.com/disorders/childhood-adhd/ https://psychcentral.com/quizzes/child-adhd-quiz/ https://psychcentral.com/disorders/a...er-fact-sheet/ https://psychcentral.com/blog/the-bi...rls-with-adhd/ https://blogs.psychcentral.com/adhd-...ers-with-adhd/ https://blogs.psychcentral.com/adhd-...dium=popular17 And then here are some articles on the subject of how to help your child (or other loved one) when she doesn't want help: https://psychcentral.com/blog/when-y...-but-needs-to/ https://psychcentral.com/blog/how-to...dium=popular17 https://psychcentral.com/blog/11-way...-denial/?all=1 My best wishes to you & your family... P.S. It appears you may have listed your address in the location section under your user name. You should be aware that the forums, here on PC, are searchable by anyone on the internet. You may want to consider removing that bit of information if, in fact, it is your address. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go."
