Been taking care of a 68 year old lady friend that has been disowned by her family because of her Bi-polar. Her own son and sister doesn't want anything do with her. She was married too her husband for 45 years before he died of cancer in 2013. After her husband died she quit taking her medicine but now she taking it because I make her take it because I couldn't live with her. She's on a great new medicine called Latuda 40 mgs for last 4 months her physiatrist put her on. Even with her taking this medicine she still has mood swings. But not as bad.

I've been taking care of her for almost four years and it's really hard at times. She hear's voices and see died people. But not all the time.

Hi Billybob59. Welcome to Psych Central. I am sorry you have to endure the swings and challenges of mental health in your friend.

If it is possible you may want to share with the psychiatrist about them hearing voices and hallucinating. This sounds like the medicine they are on is not keeping them stable. The psychiatrist also may need to reevaluate the diagnosis based on this info you shared.
