Hello Scratchette: I see this is your first post here on PC. Welcome to Psych Central.
I don't think there is much I could offer with regard to your dilemma. Perhaps other members, here on PC, will have some thoughts they'll want to share. However in the meantime here are links to 6 articles, from Psych Central's archives, that (hopefully) may provide some perspective: When Your Toxic Mom Needs Help: Dealing with the Crisis Honoring Narcissistic Parents?!? Are We Obligated to Care for Aging Narcissistic Parents? Toxic Mom? Going No Contact? 5 Things You Must Realize Unloved Daughters: Why Going No Contact Doesn't Heal You https://blogs.psychcentral.com/imper...toxic-parents/ I hope you find PC to be of benefit. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Scratchette hi there. Welcome to Psych Central. I am sorry to hear that your mom is hospitalized plus you seem to be estranged.
Well there are different things to consider. Do you want to be involved in helping your mother get well enough to get out of the hospital? Do you want to work with the staff to help them manage your mother's situation and act as long term background information? For this you could ask to talk to her social worker or case worker at the hospital. Do you want to be involved in helping your mom get out of the hospital and living independently again? You may want to talk to your therapist or trusted counselor that can help you look at these options and what has happened between you and your mom to see what steps make sense to you at this time. This could be an opportunity to work some things out with your mother but may also be a painful time for you. Hope you get the help and support you are looking for from those great links Skeezyks posted. __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |
