She's been doing that since she was little. She is now a grown woman. When alone, she talks to herself exactly as someone would when talking to someone in front of them. She locks herself in her room and have conversations. It can be pretty animated too. She laughs, gets angry (rarely) just like you would when talking to someone. Mostly smiling and laughing and talking though. I've seen her doing that when alone and she thinks no one is watching. When with people and with us, she is completely normal. She doesn't have many friends. She goes out in the weekends. Have no idea who she sees, whether it's one person or a bunch, but she sees real people/person so that's good, although it's only during the weekend. The other times she is mostly by herself.
I realize everyone talks to themselves but i don't exactly lock myself in a room just to talk with myself and i dont have animated conversations, using my hands, facial expressions as if having a conversation with someone in front of me. We used to joke when she was younger that she as imaginary friends. And idea whats going on with her? |

I can't tell you what's going on with your sister. But here are links to 2 "Ask The Therapist" articles, from PsychCentral's archives, that touch upon the subject of people talking to themselves. Perhaps some of the information in these articles will be of some help:

Hi, Jrozy, and welcome to Psych Central! Your sister's behavior does sound unusual. What does she say about it? Does she see somebody she's talking to?
As the Skeez says, we can't diagnose here, but we are here to listen to your concerns. He has given you some good articles, so I hope that will help. Again, welcome. Make yourself at home! |

I can relate to what your sister does. I do it too. If anyone ever caught me I just make jokes about it that sometimes I enjoy talking to myself. I reminisce or say ideas out loud. If I don't say them out loud a voice in my head won't go away until I say it out loud. I suffer from extreme anxiety and truly believe I have a personality disorder. I seem normal and I have lots of close friends but I'm complicated and they all know it. I go through extreme patterns of feeling extremely high and excited about life to down and depressed with the snap of a finger. I feel like talking out loud or having conversations with myself allows me to understand myself better. I say something stupid to myself and then laugh out loud and make a comment like someone else is there. This is usually during my highs when I have a lot of energy. I went through a lot of trauma alone while young. i didn't have Anyone to go through it with skin depended on myself for my gapoiness. I believe that's the stem of It for me because I know I can depend on myself to listen to me. Hope my insight helps you to try to understand her better
