I was born in former Yugoslavia. I knew there was war and I remember some things from it. We left to another country when I was 5.
Yesterday we watched a documentary with my parents and suddenly they mentioned there was a military airport near our home. They said military jets used to take off from there and sometimes it was very loud. I absolutely didn't remember that. I asked was I there too? And they said yes, you were. They spoke about other things but I wasn't able to focus it was like they were talking far away and I heard their voices but didn't get the words. Then I didn't get any memories but like shivers and electricity between my shoulder blades. And all my muscles tensed and I felt like a wooden puppet on strings. __________________ Complex trauma Highly sensitive person I love nature, simplicity and minimalism |

Thanks for sharing this experience. Although you aren't able to remember these experiences, I would suspect they may be stored somewhere in non-conscious areas of your brain... which is, perhaps, why you had the reaction you did? I don't really know of course. But that would be my guess.
I was an only child. And as I grew into my teens, my parents would tell me about things that happened when I was too young to remember. So now, with some of the memories I have, I don't know if I actually remember them myself or if what I remember is what my parents told me years later. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go."
