I suspect I was molested by a family member in grade school who used to babysit me but I don’t have memories. Just the anxiety/panic when I think about them and other memories (like being ambivalent to maybe even glad they had died). Is it possible this happened? If so will the memories come back?

I have ptsd from other sexual abuse.

Im sorry but we cant tell you whether you have been abused or not or even if it was possible that you were abused. only your own treatment providers can make that kind of diagnosis.

What I can tell you is that sexual abuse leaves a special kind of physical and emotional damage. as does on the other side of things jumping to conclusions that something happened when it didnt. (which is probably part of why we here at psych central are not supposed to be making diagnosis's of others like telling others what is going on in that other person. to instead contact treatment providers off the computer that can help with this)

I can also tell you not having memories and being uncomfortable around someone is not a definitive thing that points to a person possibly being abused...

let me show you what I mean. there was a relative that I was extremely uncomfortable with and caused me problems just thinking about them. I also had no real memories of this person. my conclusion based on the fact that I had been abused by others this must mean this person hurt me too. But when everything was investigated it turned out that there were no memories of abuse by this person because they never abused me. I was just uncomfortable with them because of their "smell" rough and loud attitude, and rough dry hands from their hard work day.

my suggestion is if this continues to bother you contact your treatment providers who can help you to discover the answers about you and this person and whether there are any actual memories to be found and why this person makes you uncomfortable.
