Does anyone know what the most common dose for Zoloft is? How long does one need to be on it in order to start seeing improvement?
I'm still at a low dose, (up to pill and a half this week or 37 MG). Yesterday was good, but today sucks. No side effects, just full-on depression. __________________ Keep this in mind, that you are important. |

I don't know what hte most commond ose is, but it takes 6-12 weeks to take effect when used for depression. Is your pdoc saying that 37mg shoudl be your maintainance dose or are you still increasing it?

The typical, therapeutic dose is 50-200 mg per day. You should be on the therapeutic dose for 6-12 weeks before deciding how well it will work for you. So you haven't started the 6-12 week countdown yet, since you are still sub-therapeutic. Hang in there. It is better to ramp up slowly, so it sounds like you're on track. You might ask your pdoc what his/her ramp plan is if you have no side effects. Also let him/her know how depressed you are feeling. He/she might accelerate the ramp if you are feeling so crappy and having no side effects. Best of luck.

I'm not sure what the most common dose is, but I am on 200mg a day and I think my psychiatrist said I was either at the higher end of therapeutic level, or the highest possible therapeutic level. I forget which. What I do know is there is a pretty big range of therapeutic doses, depending on the person and their situation. I hope this medication works for you!

I am on 50mg at this point in time, I have been on this medication for about a month now and it seems to be working ok.
