i havent, but a quick search on google showed some shrinks doing it with more severe cases of psychotic disorders. i've read that state hospitals more or less disregard PI sheets when they get to dosin' people up. i would think/assume that eps would be an issue and then long term td would become more likely, but...a lot of factors go into overall td risk.

i dont know if this helps at all, lol. my personal advice would be to try to keep the neuroleptic dose as low as possible. there's some data showing that using lamictal with a tranquilizer reduces the brain changes that happen in response to neuroleptics. that can help prevent dosage increases over the long haul, and it reduces the risk of 'tardive psychosis,' etc. sadly, there's also data from people labeled with 'schizophrenia' that seems to indicate that the less overall exposure to neuroleptics, the sooner one can taper, etc...the better the long term outcome.

I was above it once. It was when I was first diagnosed. I was manic at the time. It made me very flat though. I wasn't on that high a dose for long though, just long enough to level me out.

I was on 25 mg for a couple of months. One of the side effects was that I quit menstruating, which my pdoc felt was a problem (he was male, of course..) so I went back to 20 mg and my period returned.

No joke I was on 50mg when I was 18 years old and my first admission to hospital. I was mega manic! I could have ended up in jail, or hung myself.

2007-2009 i was taking 30 mg 3x a day. I was above the FDA guidelines. At that point I was sick and taking multiple antipsychotics antidepressants. The side effects were no worse tha when I was on lower doses.

Wow! You must've felt like you were under water at those doses!

When I first went to hospital I believe the first dosage given to me was 20 mg (to get me to calm down) and then from there it was 10 for a few weeks until I changed medications.

Quite sedating. Zyprexa is an absolute b$^ch. Worst AP on the market.
Even Clozapine has sedative but not as much and that is saying something.
It should be used initially in treating a major disorder but then the person should be switched onto something else. It dampens everything. Yet I still got the highs, because it took me so so low that my brain overcompensated so when it faded I would soar.
Oh yeah skinflint doctors have changed my Seroquel prolonged release to the cheaper alternative of normal Seroquel and I am not happy.
