PRN only IMO. For muscle rigidity caused by AP. Haldol and Risperdal are the worst offenders of this side effect and more likely to be a daily med on those two. Not so much on the newer APs.

Talk to your doc of course.

I was prescribed Cogentin and took it for about a year, daily. Honestly, it never did anything for me, good or bad. So my pdoc took me off of it.

I have a personal objection to having to take a med to counteract the side effects of other meds. I have some EPS from Risperidone and Seroquel, but I'd rather live with them, and if they get too bad, go off them or reduce the dose.

Cogentin won't do anything but relieve EPS

Why only PRN? Muscle rigidity?

there's some data that shows that patients who require cogentin are more likely to develop TD. also, the combination itself might make TD more likely...I forget the reasons.

I'd see about a different tranquilizer, or...see about doing without an antipsychotic, if possible.
