I’ve been on 75 mg of Lamictal ER for a while but was recently upped to 100 mg. It’s been about two weeks on the new dose and this past week I have been waking up with terrible headaches and feel cold more easily, I actually put on winter boots yesterday and have been sleeping with four blankets when everyone else in my house is fine with one. It took Advil, Tylenol, and an ice pack to get rid of yesterday’s headache. I’ve also been more depressed, though I’m uncertain if that could be from Lamictal or the fact that my therapist had me make some changes in my daily routine around the same time the Lamictal was changed. I’ve heard Lamictal can help migraines so the fact that it could be giving me a headache seems a bit contradictory. When I Googled Lamitcal and headaches a rare side effect of aseptic meningitis was mentioned, but I only have that and the chills and no fever or any other symptoms. Has anyone else had this happen on Lamictal?

I took Lamictal for years and had no such side effects. What does your doc or a pharmacist think? I hope you get better, regardless.

Thank you! My pdoc doesn't have any appointments for 3 1/2 weeks, I do have one for then. I didn't think to ask the pharmacist, thank you for the suggestion. Now I seem to be all stuffy, maybe I'm getting sick or have allergies and it's got nothing to do with the Lamictal.

I had bad headaches both times I started lamictal. It went away both time after a week or two. They were bad enough I remember them though and I was on it in 2003 and 2007.

Thanks for sharing Rainbow, I have been feeling better since I posted so I guess it could have been from initially upping it.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Hopefully, Lamictal will ultimately be helpful for you.

I've never been on the ER, but I'm on regular Lamictal. Despite my pdoc's insistence that Lamictal is an amazing med for bipolar disorder I am not convinced. I don't seem to experience side effects so much as the stuff seems to cause me to feel too down and flat.

Thanks Laurie. I'm still manic so I'm not impressed so far either.
