Hey all! Schizoaffective here.

So at my last pdoc appointment, we talked about getting me back on an anti-psychotic. Which I begrudgingly had to agree with. The only reason we had stopped is because the horrid track record I have with these medications.

I have been on Seroquel, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Abilify, and Latuda. All of which gave me horrible extrapyramidial symptoms, like the muscles spasms and twitching, all that good junk. Generally terrible experiences that some I had to go to the ER for. (Latuda was the only one that didn't do this-but in turn, it also didn't do much for me at all.)

Since we had decided to forgo the antipsychotics for awhile since they were doing more harm than good, he added Equetro to my regimen in hopes that might help since if my mood is better, I might not hallucinate as much.

Wrong.

I've been in a whirlwind of hallucinations lately, and it's awful. He had suggested maybe trying Vraylar the next time I see him (June), as it's a very new one and has even supposedly less risk for side effects than it's predecessors.

I'm going to give it a shot either way, but I'd like to know some experiences other people have had with it!

Thanks so much in advance!

Very, very expensive. Hope you have good insurance. I was on it for a little while (maybe 9 months?) but it caused me terrible anxiety and I switched.

Yikes. Yeah, I figured as much since it's a newer drug. Hopefully my pdoc can give me some samples for awhile to see if I even take to it well, that way I'm not paying for something that inevitably doesn't work out. (Usually what he did for Latuda for me.)

Thanks for your experience though! Sorry it didn't work out for you. I know how that is. :c

Helped my mood for a few days at 1.5 mg. Made me very sleepy at 3 mg.

My only concern was that my dr put me immediately on mAintence dose of 6mg a day.

But it turned out better for me
In the long run. No paranoia or psychosis
