Any experiences with it? My pdoc told me it's used for depression and anxiety. She's taking me off (useless) Cymbalta and has prescribed Paxil.

It caused me a mixed episode, but I cannot tolerate any SSRI.

I took it years before I was diagnosed bipolar. It made me feel like I was watching myself from the outside and made me feel detached from my family and life in general. It also made me really angry.

I was on it only for a couple of months as a result.

I take it, it is very helpful. I take a mood stabilizer with it though to keep from getting manic.

Thanks to each of you for sharing your experiences with Paxil. I took it many years ago and my current pdoc was basing her decision to prescribe Paxil on the basis that I had "successful" treatment with it all those years ago. But I did mention several times that I definitely cannot recall how I reacted to Paxil. I know I took it for around a couple of years (??...more? Less?). It's very possible, though, that I was hypomanic or manic at times. I simple cannot remember.
I am so glad to finally be given permission to stop taking the Cymbalta, which has been useless for me from month one. I have a much better understanding of my triggers and symptoms than I did 2 decades ago, so I will certainly monitor how I feel on the Paxil.

not a fan. made me apathetic. stopping it was a pain. i think there's a cr or sr version...you might want to see about that. the controlled release is easier to taper, from what ive heard.
