Hi all,

I wanted to hear some opinions or experiences on Wellbutrin XL?

I got the prescription, but which makes it back to 5 medications. (Bright side is no more lithium)
One could debate that it is too much, but that is another story.

It's one of my meds, I have found it helpful, no side effects.

I have found wellbutrin to be very helpful with depression. One of the side effects was that I quit smoking.

Three antidepressants....how do you feel about that. Since you're counting prescriptions is it possible to increase two of them and come off of one? Just a thought. ...

Im on wellbutrin XL for about the past 2 years, recently my Nurse Practitioner raised the dose to 450mg once a day. Ive had no negative side effects that I can notice. Currently on Effexor 225 mg and the 450 mg Wellbutrin XL. I had been on Rexulti with the effexor and 300 mg wellbutrin, but I couldnt control my cravings for FOOD. So I had to get off of it.

I am going to do a separate post on that topic.

Bupropion works well especially as an adjunct to other meds as it has a unique mechanism of action (not fully understood given how "weak" it supposedly is). Have taken it for a while-very few if any side effects in my case. Is very "subtle".

Overall, I think it's directly helpful for my depression and indirectly helpful for my anxiety.

Only side effect I noticed was increased irritability/agitation for the first week or so, but it passed

Bupropion 300XL once daily has been one that really helped me to stabilize and live an actual life over the past 2 years. For whatever reason, it's been so much more effective for me than any SSRIs I ever took. It's been the one that has stayed around (along with lithium) while I got rid of the other 3 (revolving door of mood stabilizers/benzos) that I was on. It's almost like a nice cup of coffee in the morning that gets me going a lot of days.
