So, I have a history of ADD with a bit of bipolar and lately I'm finding that the medication I’m taking is no longer working. What I currently take for my ADD is Strattera 25 mg and Abilify 20 mg for bipolar.

Last year, I was on Strattera and Abilify but then in the process decided to change medication as I felt I needed better medication to deal with my disorder. Throughout the end of last year and this year, I’ve gone on different medications from time to time but unfortunately, I found they had no effect in my system.

As a result, I decided to go back on Abilify and Strattera (which have worked for me before as far back as last year). However, in being on Abilify for over two months I haven’t seen the medication kick in and work the way it used to. In being on Strattera for nearly two weeks, I’m facing the same problem as well. The natural thing one can say is that I should give it time. Yeah, but the problem is nothing is happening from both medications irrespective of the time I’ve been on them.

This is very concerning to me because I need both Strattera and Abilify to help with my ADD/bipolar problems and I’ve found no other medicines work the same way as they do together. I’ve already made a visit to my primary care physician and she told me to let the medicine work. Since that visit, nothing has happened. I’ve told my psychiatrist about this problem and his answer is typically to increase the dose, which I’ve found does nothing.

Anyone have any recommendations on how I should deal with this situation?

Hello StarFox: I'm sorry I cannot advise you with regard to your medication concerns. (Perhaps other members, here on PC, my have some thoughts in this regard.) However I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So I thought I would just say... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find PC to be of benefit.
