My psychiatrist added Effexor to the Remeron I was already taking, and it has made my anxiety skyrocket. So I am also taking a beta blocker to combat the anxiety as I adjust to Effexor. Today am just below the line of wanting to crawl out of my skin due to the anxiety.

It almost makes me not feel the depression because it is so strong. (But, alas, the depression is still there, so far.)

Just going downstairs and standing in the kitchen (open plan next to dining area and family room) to make a hot beverage had me on edge, and I practically ran up the stairs back to my bedroom with my mug just to be back in a smaller enclosed space.

It's also given me other side effects like dry mouth and taste perversion. Just waiting to see if this added medication will help me in the long run is really tough. If it does, I hope the side effects fade because they are by far the worst side effects I have experienced with a medication. If not, learning to deal with these particular side effects may have to be something I just have to accept . . . but I wonder if they're worth it.

I tried effexor. Same. Anxiety with it. Keep trying. It may work for you.

You can try it or, if it's too much to bear or it's not helping, you can always ask for a change.
